Background Experience
Personal Profile
Having briefly dipped my toe into the music industry, and working in various roles within the entertainment industry, I am aware of the inordinate level of stress and angst that can arise from this field of work. The pressure to be part of the crowd and partake in activities when all you're interested in is the creative element, whether this is writing, singing, performing, or producing.
The anxiety around faltering during a stage performance or speech, or the worry around how to cover those mistakes and move forwards. The catastrophising and rumination that something will inevitibly go wrong. The long, exhausting hours with not much gain or return. And having to work in close proximity with individuals who leave you feeling highly uncomfortable and stressed.

There is a lot of evidence suggesting the effectiveness of CBT on such issues mentioned above. As an integrative therapist, I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn an array of techniques and approaches, including Person-centred therapy, which is at the very core of my practice.
Whether your job requires you to perform in front of a crowd or just one person, relaxation techniques are an important asset to have in your toolbox. It can be helpful to practice these during therapy sessions and, used in your daily schedule or for when you need immediate relief, this can help you create new ways of coping and to lower stress levels.
I enjoy the process of blending various therapeutic approaches and appreciate what each can offer. Ultimately, how I work will depend on you and your individual needs. I will listen to you and intuit this, but I will also take your lead in terms of respecting what you are comfortable with.

Some of my previous roles enable me to personally relate to some of the struggles my clients might experience. Prior to counselling, I mentored students in both a college and university setting and helped students to set themselves acheivable goals. Additionally, I taught and delivered lessons accross various colleges. I then diverted and veered towards the entertainment industry due to other personal interests. Previous roles include sound and lighting technician, sound engineer, and performer for local events. In addition to my private practice, I continue to provide my counselling services to two charities whose goals are to support families in the local area.
